It's
very true that you get what you pay for. And this movie was cheap as
all hell! But hey, If Julie Strain is in it, you know it was made on a
shoestring budget and that it will have lots of tits. Check
one...aaaand...*ticks box* check two. Bleed is one of those movies that
you buy because you KNOW its gonna be bad...and because you like that
kind of bad. And you all know me - feed me that cheese. And believe me
I gots me a huge hunk of limburger with this one.
Bleed was made in the year 2002, and after reading a review for it on
Arrow in the Head I felt that I needed to track it down. Amazon weren't
distributing it yet, neither were a lot of other DVD retailers, and
since it was highly unlikely that it was ever going to be released in
Australia, I had to keep an eye peeled for a copy, so when one popped
up on eBay I went all out to win the auction - didn't take much
considering there weren't many people out there who actually knew what
it was.
Bleed is the story of Maddy - the new girl in a new town starting a new
job. She starts to make friends through her also new boyfriend Chris,
but there's something a little strange about her new pals. During a
party (make sure you keep an ear out for some classic lines such as "I
wanna see her tits!") she finds out exactly what that is. Chris and his
friends are part of a Murder Club, where the members kill people for
kicks...Maddy finds this a little strange - but then again she is
highly disturbed (the scene of her throwing a party for herself is
awesome) and will do anything to impress her new man and his friends,
but when the Murder Club Members start being murdered themselves, which
one could it be?
The acting is bad - its typical B Movie trash, there is a lot left
unexplained. But there are a few surprising little twists to make the
ride a little more fun. I enjoyed it, but then again, I'm a cinematic
masochist. I watched American Psycho 2. Every last minute of it. Thank
Christ I don't own it...I'd be booking myself straight into Arkham!
Plenty of gore, although it did look cheap and nasty, it was there in
abundance. I like that in a movie. Smashed head, gutted, stabbed, slit
throat, and my personal fave, the chick in the parking lot having her
head exploded against a concrete pylon. Weak points were the guy dying
of an axe wound to the shoulder (This is a movie right? - Where's the
call of "Its just a flesh wound!"?) and that pussy ass electrocution.
Worst death ever. Oh yeah and thumbs down to the blonde for not getting
her girls out. Disappointed, I was.
Great cameos by Brinke Stevens and Lloyd Kaufman as Maddy's parents.
Julie Strain appears briefly and manages to have her norks out the
entire time. Top form! A great "drunk" movie. Enjoy!!
